Becca & Chanel
We are delighted to have these two wonderful animal babies. I am surprised at how well they have integrated into our family. They have been to the vet and have had their teeth cleaned because of stinky breath. Becca lost one tooth and Chanel lost another tooth. Both of them had a bacterial infection and have been on two courses of antibiotics. They have responded well. Becca still is positive for giardia, unfortunately. We have not yet made an appointment with an eye specialist to see if Becca is a candidate for surgery to restore her site. We need to save for that expense, but will at least see if it is possible.
They have been to the groomer and seem to love being pampered, and the fur on the bridge of their noses is growing back. They have learned to enjoy the back yard and are almost completely trained to do their business out there. Becca loves to lay in the sun and snooze. Chanel prefers the cool on the patio. They have found their bark. They bark with joy and not fear. They have begun to play and love chews. They eat well but still gulp down their food. Chanel has a wonderful friendship with our three legged cat. They follow each other around and sleep together some times. Becca loves her bed in our sunroom during the day and our bed at night. Chanel isn't a cuddler so likes to sleep at the foot of our bed. Becca loves our lap and Chanel loves to be stroked and petted. Both Becca and Chanel are the best of friends and seem to enjoy our other two dogs quite a bit. Mochi and Shadow accepted them without reservation or jealousy.
We are ready to start working on training them to come and sit and stay. I will be working with a trainer on the issue of Becca eating poop. We try to be vigilant about cleaning up after all four dogs each time they are out but sometimes we don't move fast enough. Becca also has separation anxiety which concerns me. I will ask the trainer how to handle this. They love to ride in the car. They are also getting used to other people being around. They love to have my mother come and dote on them. The babies take short walks on leash and enjoy that time. Chanel is learning to play with toys. Becca loves her chews. Chanel loves to run with Mochi and I see a smile on her face during that activity. Both girls have put on weight. In fact, Chanel is on a diet now. I guess that I loved them too much with food. We are readjusting. Becca continues to be our lap baby and both Wayne and I enjoy that. Chanel now asks to be picked up and held and that is a joy!
We love them to death and we are blessed to have them. I want to thank Mill Dog Rescue for the work they do and the opportunity to offer these little babies a home where they are loved and cared for. They will never want for anything and will live out there lives with love and care. Again, thank you for rescuing them from the puppy mills. They are a wonderful addition to the family! I can't believe that it has only been four months since we were blessed with Becca and Chanel. It is as if they have been with us for years. Thank you again for the opportunity to offer them a forever home! Bless you for your work and passion for rescuing these babies for all of us!
