During our October 2007 rescue, there were huge trailers at an auction that looked like they held racing cars. Inside one of the # 07 Racing trailers, this poor mama poodle was on our high priority list to save. She looked to be in terrible shape and was very weak. As it turned out we could not afford to save her life. She was auctioned with her puppies that were not quite old enough to be sold individually. The auctioneer explained that her puppies were near by “only 150 yards away”, they had pictures of the pups to show to the bidders . Because of the pups the bids went too high for us. At one point during the bidding the auctioneer said, once the mama and pups are picked up you can do whatever you want with the mama , the pups alone are worth the price, but she might have it in her to breed once more. It must have been quite funny because most of the people laughed.
