Ivory came to us from a puppy mill in the mid-west. Unfortunately, she had a case of heartworms and had to undergo the awful treatment which involves giving the dog arsenic poisoning. It was so sad that Ivory was finally free from being caged and she had to remain very calm and still during her 6 weeks of treatment from heartworms. Dogs that are too active while the worms die and travel through the lungs can die instantly. She had to be kept alone and in a small area. Ivory absolutely loved snuggling with her foster mom and wasn’t very interested in the other family dogs. She was adopted by a wonderful retired woman who did not want to leave Ivory alone (especially at first). She almost cancelled a dental appointment but as you can see from this picture, Ivory, now Phoebe, kept her new mom company as she had her teeth worked on. What a special dentist and wonderful new home!!
