help national mill dog rescue put an end to puppy mills
what we do

National Mill Dog Rescue’s mission is to rescue dogs from puppy mills, provide them with nutritious food, health care and place them in loving homes. We also seek to educate consumers on how to avoid buying dogs from stores that support puppy mills.
what your donation will do

100% of your donation will go directly to helping mill dogs in need. Donations help provide a variety of services, from rescue expenses and  medical care, to facility maintenance and kennel supplies. Until the end of July, every dollar you give will be matched by an angel donor.
why we need help

We need your help to purchase the kennel for our rescued dogs... a place where they can enjoy a safe, warm, comfortable and loving environment for the first time in their lives. A place for them to recover both medically and emotionally from years of neglect.

Veterinary care is an enormous expense when rescuing mill dogs. A typical retired "breeder dog" is 5-7 years old, has spent its entire life in a small filthy wire cage, has been bred literally almost to death, and in most cases has never received any veterinary care.
Until July 31st, all donations will be matched 100% by an angel donor
Maddie's Story
But, true to the nature of dogs, Maddie was resilient and forgiving and learned to trust humans again and start to enjoy life.

Today, Maddie is safe and warm in the loving care of a wonderful family here in Colorado Springs. The sad fact is though, that there are hundreds of thousands of dogs like Maddie out there who will never make it off the wire or out of the small, filthy pen. They will die as they lived, abused, neglected and exploited for profit.

NMDR relies solely on the generosity of others to allow us to care for our rescued dogs and focus on the heart of our mission - to bring about lasting change in this disgraceful industry. Please consider donating now as your donation will automatically be doubled by the kindness of an anonymous donor’s matching grant campaign.
Maddie spent the first nine years of her life churning out puppies every six months in a commercial breeding facility in Arkansas. During those nine years, Maddie was perpetually deprived of the basic comforts every dog deserves; a comfortable place to rest, routine exercise, adequate veterinary care, nutritious food and fresh water, regular grooming and perhaps most importantly, human companionship. Instead, Maddie had one sole purpose in life - producing puppies for nothing more than financial gain for her “owner”.

On January 30th, 2010, Maddie was rescued along with 71 other dogs by National Mill Dog Rescue.  Maddie’s body was tired and her spirit, broken.   Soon after, we learned of the gravity of her situation - inoperable metastatic cancer - a direct result of the years of abuse and neglect she suffered in a puppy mill.
