Daisy Mae

Daisy Mae

My name is Daisy. I’m an adorable 15 lbs. pug who’s seen a lot at my young age of not quite two years old. Until a couple of months ago, I was a money maker at a puppy mill. One day the mill owner needed to thin out the stock and my name made it to the list of dogs to be “terminated”. National Mill Dog Rescue found me before it was too late. They sent me to a swell foster home with four other pugs my age, where I was able to give birth to my latest litter in the comfort of a loving home.
I’ve been a good girl, sleeping in the kitchen at night with my puppies. But now that they are getting older, I’ve been thinking more and more about how I’d really like to find my forever home.
I am never happier than when I’m curled up in a nice warm lap. I adore my foster mom and follow her everywhere she goes. I’m not very happy when she leaves me, so I hope that my forever family doesn’t leave me alone much. Although I have lots of friends here to play with, I prefer to cuddle with a human. I get along with the other dogs okay, but I’m still not quite sure what this whole “playing” thing is all about.
I’m learning about a thing my foster mom calls “house breaking”. It involves going outside in the cold, of which I am not a big fan. Every time I see my foster mom put on her coat, I roll over on my back. Once the weather changes, it might not be such a big deal, but until then, she has to carry me out there every few hours to go potty. I’m doing better and better everyday, but I still have accidents.
I’m not leash trained yet. My foster mom tried to teach me, but it was cold out there and I just didn’t want to go anywhere but back inside. We talked about it and agreed that we will try again when it’s warmer.
Since I’m still involved with my “mama duties”, I haven’t had a lot of time to figure out who I am without my puppies, but I can tell you that I LOVE love. Giving love, receiving love, it’s all good. I hope to find a family that feels the same and who has the time and patience to help me learn what being a dog is all about.
